The 2009-2010 Season is Complete, Crappy!

wrap_13We had a pretty exciting season here at Alaska Wildfowl.

As I sit here sipping on a little Jonnie Walker, it hit me. Duck Season Is Done! CRAP! For the last 144 days we have been in duck season here in Alaska, I have thought of nothing else but the next alarm. I personally spent 118 of those days hunting ducks, and the majority of that guiding ducks. I think I did pretty good staying on the water.

So now, not having to wake up tomorrow morning, I wanted to stop and thank everyone for making this possible. We have a lot of supporters on here and a lot of people that come visit our great state with us. Without the hunters I could not be out there doing something I love to do! There is nothing like waking up to some sea spray in the face. My wife still thinks I am crazy.

We meet and hunted with some great people this season. We got to hang out with Larry Csonka and Smoky Joe to start off our season with a bang on our cast and blast. We also got to hunt with and meet Jared Brown and Jim West with DUTV and David Rearick with Wildfowl Mag. Not to mention all the fuge hunters! I know if I started listing all your guys I would miss someone!

That being said we had a great year. We ended up with our company total of 29 different species/subspecies of waterfowl shot. Not bad. We had a 97% success on harlequin in Valdez, sadly DUTV’s Jared and Jim were our only 2 hunters missing their harlies. We shot the rarest duck on Adak the last day of season, a lesser scuap, haha. It is all about the location for how rare something is. We learned a lot, including what happens when 140,000 gallons of diesel is spills into a harbor. Surprisingly the ducks do not care, but the greenies do.

I also turned 30 on an island with 200 people living on it. I am not sure anyone I know would have guessed that is where I would be.

Over the next couple of days I will post a bunch of pics. Our internet is little slow, so I can only do a few now, but will be back in the real world soon. I know some people have been asking everyone they know to get some pictures; sorry I have not had time.

Thanks for putting up with my sappiness!!!
